INWARD FACING CAMERAS

Please be aware of working with these Locomotives and recognize that the cameras are always on and must not be tampered with.

The National Division has issued the following language to be used for time claims filed by those required to work on these engines. Please use the following verbiage when filing these claims when working on  locomotives that have been equipped with these cameras.

 

IMPORTANT : Addendum 2018- While the issue of installation of cameras has been resolved (see attached Board award), the issue of who controls the data/recordings and what it is used for is still wide open. Arbitrator Benn who decided the installation issue (again see the attached award), understood this secondary issue and admitedly was limited in the scope of his decision to the appropriateness of the installation of inward facing cameras, however made comment on the use of the recordings which could be important in the future. Please take the time to read this award.
