Many of you within the BLET CR/SAA CSX North GCA have received a packet in the mail regarding the changes in the Short Term Disability (STD) and Long Term Disability (LTD) polices offered by Cornerstone Assurance Group that will become effective November 1, 2016.

In short the plan changes are as follows:

STD benefits will be for 50 weeks replacing a 13 week STD benefit

LTD benefits will commence after 52 weeks and continue for the length of time specified in the individual policy (new addition of a 7 year benefit in addition to the 5 year benefit previously offered)

The restructure of these options it should be noted can provide up to 6 or 8 years (dependent on policies chosen by the member) of protection to you and your family if the STD and LTD are combined. 

PLEASE READ the changes in the policies, fees and reasons for the changes in the flyer contained in the packet you should have received in the mail. The enrollment period ends October 28, 2016.

Also please note, as this was asked at a meeting officers of the GCA attended recently, the GCA and it’s officers do not and never have received any benefit offering information on such endeavors other than the knowledge our membership has access to such insurance should they so chose.  

Again the open enrollment for this important optional benefit is available to ALL members of the BLET CR-SAA/CSX North General Committee (Trainmen AND Engineers).
